Lunches for Learning exists to help break the cycle of poverty by providing nutrition and nutritional supplements to the very poor children in public schools and kindergartens within the Republic of Honduras. ROCUMC sponsors Dionisio de Herrera school in the district of Valle by providing lunch for each child for the whole school year. We have sent several teams to the school to develop relationships and open our eyes to the great need beyond our community.
Talbot Interfaith Shelter is dedicated both to providing safe, temporary shelter to men, women, and children who lack adequate housing, and to raising awareness of the issues of homelessness in our community. ROCUMC combines our efforts with other churches in the area to provide check-in, dinner preparation and overnight volunteers.
Operation Christmas Child - Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. ROCUMC collects and sends dozens of boxes each year. This mission is led by our youth group.
Open Doors, a community event focused on preventing and overcoming addictions and encouraging our youth to make good choices in life.
Habitat for Humanity - ROCUMC sends volunteer teams at least four times a year to participate in a home build project.
In addition to these mission outreaches, ROCUMC provides Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas gift cards, and help with emergency needs for many of our neighbors who face difficult times.
James 2: 14-17 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
